Journalists Highlight: VIP Land. A Route for Transnational Human Trafficking Crimes

Jakarta, March 30, 2026, NETTInpo.com
VIP land is rarely investigated in depth. VIP brokers have connections, pay individuals to close their eyes, and even officials and law enforcement officers are included in this circle, including state intelligence. The Indonesian people should question all of this.

"A similar case was uncovered at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, where a Cambodian-Indonesian syndicate recruited young women via TikTok, promising a monthly salary of IDR 20 million.
Criminal law expert, Dr. Andi Rahman (UI), assessed this as a violation of Law No. 21/2007 concerning Human Trafficking. "The VIP land route must be strictly audited.

This is not an elite facility, but a gateway to human trafficking," he stressed.

The Ministry of Law and Human Rights had not responded as of the time of publication.
Victims like Rina (28), a resident of Lombok, survived a trap in Sihanoukville, Cambodia. "I paid IDR 30 million for VIP land, thinking it was safe. "Even the case of the underage girl from Medan, whose death was not clearly revealed in 2025, was not resolved.

She was even sold for Rp 100 million to a prostitution bar," she said tearfully. This case is similar to the 2025 Interpol report: 500+ Southeast Asian victims used the same route.

However, without reform of the VIP lane, the service remains a haven for trafficking brokers.

The public is urged to be wary of offers of "quick jobs" via social media.
