EXPIRED MINING PERMITS STILL CIRCULATING, SUPERVISION OF CLASS C MINING IN ACEH BARAT UNDER SCRUTINY

 Mining activity for Class C materials in Aceh Barat is raising serious questions. Out of 19 non-metal and rock Mining Business Permits recorded as of March 2026, seven have already expired.

Data obtained by AJNN shows only 12 companies and business entities hold Production Operation Permits. The other seven remain at the exploration permit stage.

Six permits expired in 2025. One more expired in January 2026. This means some companies may still be operating despite having no valid legal documents.

Production Permits Concentrated in a Few Areas  

Companies listed with production permits include BUMG Muda Sebaya in Gampong Babah Krueng Teplep, Pante Ceureumen District, for natural sand-gravel across 4 hectares.

Other names include PT Tamping Mulia Jaya in Panton Reu District, BUMDes Cahaya Pelita Tanjong Bungong in Kaway XVI District, and CV Van Veliz in Woyla District.

PT Ardian Marek Resource, CV Muda Bersaudara, BUMG Gatayu, and CV Mirsan Alpen Putra are also registered with production permits across several areas in Aceh Barat.

Exploration Stalled, Permits Remain Active 

Meanwhile, seven companies still hold exploration permits. The list includes PT Gunong Hitam Perkasa in Sungai Mas District and PT Altaco Jaya Lestari in Meureubo District.

CV Anugrah Krueng Raya, CV Sawang Ramboet Crusher, CV Susi Emas Permata, and CV Mirsan Alpen Putra are also recorded as holding exploration permits in several districts.

This shows that most activities have not moved to the production stage. Ironically, some permits have expired but company names remain listed in the regional mining database.

Oversight Under Question  

The situation raises questions about supervision and enforcement of Class C mining in Aceh Barat. The public deserves to know whether companies with expired permits are still operating on the ground.

If they are, there is potential for state revenue loss, environmental damage, and weak enforcement of regulations. Local authorities are urged to conduct immediate field verification and revoke permits that are no longer valid.

Without firm action, mining data risks becoming dead records that mask what is actually happening on the ground.
