The Directorate General of Immigration’s advanced autogate system once again proved its effectiveness by foiling an attempt by a United States citizen, initials AJP, an Interpol fugitive wanted for a brutal murder in South Carolina.

AJP, allegedly involved in a fatal stabbing in late 2025 in Hampton County, South Carolina, was arrested upon arrival from Taipei, Taiwan, at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali. He was deported on Thursday, April 23, 2026, under escort by US Marshals.

Red Notice detected instantly
Director General of Immigration Hendarsam Marantoko praised the autogate’s 24/7 integration with Interpol databases, which immediately flagged the Red Notice. “This proves our selective policy: only foreigners who are beneficial and safe may enter Indonesia,” he stressed.

Chronology of arrest
Director of Immigration Supervision Yuldi Yusman outlined the investigative timeline: AJP first entered Indonesia on January 17, 2026, through Ngurah Rai. Two days later he was detained to allow coordination with the US Embassy. The repatriation process involved strict administrative verification before deportation.

Pattern of South Carolina fugitives
The case mirrors other arrests in the US, such as Johnathan Romig, 38, who was captured for a stabbing murder in Hampton County. It highlights a pattern of South Carolina fugitives attempting to flee internationally.

“Indonesian Immigration has become a key partner for global law enforcement, protecting sovereignty from cross-border threats,” Yuldi said.

The Directorate General of Immigration pledged to strengthen autogate monitoring at all airports and deepen synergy with Interpol and US partners to safeguard national security.
