Jusuf Hamka Grateful PN Central Jakarta Grants CMNP Lawsuit, Hary Tanoe & MNC Asia Declared to Have Committed Unlawful Acts

JAKARTA, NETTI npo. Com
Toll road entrepreneur Jusuf Hamka expressed his gratitude after the panel of judges at the Central Jakarta District Court granted the entire civil lawsuit filed by PT Citra Marga Nusaphala Persada Tbk (CMNP), Wednesday, April 23, 2026.

In its decision, the panel of judges declared Hary Tanoesoedibjo and PT MNC Asia Holding Tbk to have committed unlawful acts against CMNP.

“We are grateful. This ruling proves that the truth will find its way. This is about legal certainty, not personal matters,” Jusuf Hamka said after the hearing.

Case background
The dispute stems from a debt and share transfer transaction between CMNP and MNC Group several years ago. CMNP alleged that the defendants’ actions caused both material and immaterial losses to the company.

In its lawsuit, CMNP sought damages exceeding Rp400 billion. The panel granted the lawsuit in full but the detailed amount of compensation awarded was not read out in open court. A complete copy of the verdict is expected in the coming days.

Court ruling
The Central Jakarta District Court panel ruled:
1. To grant the plaintiff’s claim in its entirety.
2. To declare defendant I Hary Tanoesoedibjo and defendant II PT MNC Asia Holding Tbk to have committed unlawful acts.
3. To order the defendants to pay compensation to CMNP.
4. To order the defendants to pay court costs.

Defendants’ response
Legal counsel for Hary Tanoesoedibjo said they are still studying the ruling and are considering an appeal. “We respect the District Court’s decision, but there are points we will challenge at the next level,” a representative of MNC Asia Holding’s legal team stated.

Legal analyst weighs in
Dr. Bima Satria, a business law expert from the University of Indonesia, called the ruling an important precedent. “The court affirmed that directors or beneficial owners can be held personally liable if unlawful acts are proven. They cannot hide behind the corporate veil,” he explained.

Bima added that the case underscores the importance of due diligence and clear contracts in corporate transactions. “Going forward, businesses will be more careful in documenting the rights and obligations of all parties,” he said.

Company profiles
CMNP is a toll road operator controlled by Jusuf Hamka. Its portfolio includes the Ir. Wiyoto Wiyono Toll Road, Depok–Antasari Toll Road, and several other segments. Meanwhile, MNC Asia Holding is the parent company of Hary Tanoesoedibjo’s MNC Group.
